Rotary Working Bee

Sunnyhills School Community are very grateful to an enthusiastic group of students from Pakuranga College, Young Rotaracts and their Rotary supervisors for the work they did during the school holidays to complete some environmental projects.  The fence painting was completed, trees mulched and bark spread along the bank from the back gate towards the Edible Garden area.

Bring in the Birds - A Senior School Enviro Project

This term the Senior School have been exploring the concept of ecosystems and investigating how we can attract more manu species into our school environment. Some of our hard work is on display in the school hall.

Which is your favourite type of bird?

Now we know what each species likes to eat and where they like to live, our next steps are to plan an area for our manu.

Room Tahi, Rua, Rima & Whitu - Reflect & Zentangle to Share

Did you know the senior school classes have been investigating how we can encourage more manu (birds) into the Sunnyhills environment?

Today we concluded our iniquiry by reflecting and making zentangle birds. Look out for our birds and research findings on display in the hall.

Room Tekau ma Iwa Put Waste In Its Place and Reflect

Cyclone Cook was drizzling merrily down, so Room 19 had an inside Enviro lesson on the last day of term.

We learnt how to sort our waste sustainably. Did you know we're getting new council rubbish bins soon? They're small to encourage families to use worm farms, compost and recycling bins instead of landfill.

We loved all the hands on activities outside this term!!

Room Tekau ma Whitu's Enviro Reflection for Term One

We sorted the rubbish to try and avoid the landfill. We can't wait to check out the new worm farm next term. Did you know they don't like citrus?
Everyone loved eating the fruit from the edible garden this term.
