9a - learning & growing in Education for Sustainability

Today Room 8a had an EfS lesson with Mrs Daniel. We learnt about why it's a great idea to bring a litter free lunch to school.

We explored our Mara Kai Edible Garden. The brave GEMS taste tested pea pods and wombok.

The Role of Science in Climate Change

We put two blue ice cubes in water - one salty, one fresh.

Hypothesis-

"The ice will melt" Leona

Observation

"In the salt one the dye is sitting on the top" James

"The fresh water the dye has mixed in" Jade

Conclusion - salty water is more dense. Melting polar ice caps will cause the seas to become less dense.

What do you want our future to look?

James and Jacob - flying cars running on solar panels

James - paint the roofs white to reflect sunlight

Charley - less fossil fuels

Aston - electric boats

Ayyan - more electric

Leona - rocket platform that runs on water

Yi Fan - electrical houses with solar panels

Charley - electric pollen makers with solar panels

Leona - solar powered charging parking lots
