Today Room 16 found out what makes an insect. Insects are our friends. They help grow food in our garden. After looking closely at Mrs Daniel's weta, wasp, Gisborne cockroach and photo cards, we went on a bug hunt.
We were looking for animals that had six legs, an exoskelaton, head, thorax and abdomen. The tamariki saw lots of honey bees, bumble bees, ants and a white butterfly. We stocked up the bed hotel with twigs so our insects have somewhere to live.
Lastly we created our own insects making sure to include all the body parts.
