Room 19 find out why plants have flowers

To finish off our big inquiry into growing kai, Room 19 investigated why plants have flowers.  We discovered bees move pollen from flower when they drink nectar.

Afterwards we looked carefully at the flowers in the Edible Garden to see if we could see their pollen and and sticky stamens.  We ate the sweet petals on the feijoa flowers. Yum!

We created our own paper flowers, with pollen dusters, petals and a sticky stamen.  Next we made stripey pipe cleaner bees and moved pollen from flowe r to flower so they could turn into fruit.  Well done Room 19!
