Team Five's learning how to be sustainable with energy with Vector

Year Five are learning how we can be sustainable with energy. Esther from Vector visited today. She's funny and so informative. Ask your Year 5 GEM what they learnt in her presentation. If you're a Year Five comment below with an amazing fact.

Did you know just one hour of sunlight could power all of Earth's electrical devices for a year? Wow! We're wondering how we can use more sustainable sources of energy in the future.

New Zealand's electrical energy generation is 84% from sustainable sources.  Wouldn't it be awesome if our car fleet was just as clean?

I wonder what solutions to being more sustainable with energy our Year Fives will come up with ...

  14. I enjoyed watching the water flow through the dam.It looked fantastic! It was like a waterfall but not falling downwards. I learnt that planes can have solar panels on them and they can fly through the sky with the sun giving the plane energy. And it's free!

  15. I liked the thought of getting enough water in the dam and then turning the turbo on and then you have got electricity

  24. hi I thought that the energy lesson in the hall. I learned that solar panels use the sun for electricity and that in china they have a lot of solar panels there and it was a farm with solar panels. It was so much fun and i hope that Esther has a wonderful rest of the day.

  25. Wow, it's amazing that you can fully charge your electric car for $0.00 if you have solar panels and the sun is there! You can also charge it for only $3.00 for man made electricity!

  30. The section I liked the most was the part where the solar power powered the model helicopter's propeller. The most surprising part was when I realised that to get an electric car to full battery would only cost 300....... CENTS!!!!! Another surprising section was when I saw that wind only generates 5% of our energy and thermal energy had overruled wind!
