Learning about Leopard Seals with WWF

Kauri Hub learnt about leopard seals today with the Whale Tales and WWF expert; Christa.

We listened, questioned and took notes.

Sam asked Christa if leopard seals stop off at sub Antartic Islands. Christa said that was a great question as scientists are now thinking leopard seals may be giving birth on these islands, but research is needed. There still so much to learn about these creatures and you can help ...

Did you know Auckland has its own leopard seal called Owha?

Spuds with Room 15

Today Room 15 learnt about parts of the plant and the difference between fruits and vegetables.

We had fun digging up potatoes and rating them with salt and butter.

Checking on our Weta Buddies

In Room 18 Evie found a weta and bought it to school. We decided to learn more about weta. We read a book, drew a weta & watched videos.

Lastly we went and checked on the weta hotel that was donated three years ago. It was empty, but Mrs Daniel did find a baby weta in a cabbage tree.

Have you found any weta lately? Wetas love dark bushy places.

Litter Free Lunches Helping Our Moana

Well done to these Room Rua tamariki for packing litter free lunches.

Our litter survey today still found lunchbox packets & wraps are escaping into the playground and down outside drains.

Please help us stop ocean litter and the harm it does to sea creatures by packing a litterfree lunch.
